Derek Lam For Design Nation Kohl's

Derek Lam

Design Nation for Kohl's

You know me! SikGlam Never misses a Design Nation Launch. I had been patiently waiting for this one, since the Narciso Rodriguez line which was inspired by Istanbul. The Derek Lam line was inspired by Rio De Janeiro. I thought this was just too perfect, since I am going on a tropical vacation soon and will be needing clothes for it. This shopping trip really got me excited for my trip! When I think of Rio, I think of a tropical warm place with an ocean breeze, and that's just the kind of place that I am going too.

So here is what I bought:

Striped Sheath Dress

Looks MUCH better on!

I had to get this dress! Sheath Dresses are probably one of most favorite types of dresses. This dress will be perfect for the warm weather. It can be dressed up on down depending on how you accessorize it.

Striped ShirtDress

Once Again, Looks MUCH better on.

I had to have this shirt dress. The colors seemed so tropical to me. You can roll up the sleeves and it can  be worn it so many different ways. You can wear it as a dress, opened up over a tank top and jean shorts, or as a cover-up to the matching bikini.

Underwire Midkini Swim Top

I absolutely adore this print!

This Swim Top is going to be amazing on my trip. Not only will I be able to wear it as a swim top, but I will be able to wear it as a top with shorts. It could also be worn underneath a see through blouse. There are so many possibilities.

Ruched Scoop Swim Bottoms

This swim bottoms provide just the right amount of coverage.

Floral Tunic Dress

This Print is going to Look Amazing
with a Tan!

This Tunic Dress was another great find for my trip, since it can be worn in so many ways. I can wear it as a day or night dress, as a beach cover-up, or casual by pairing it with leggings.

Chambray Jumper Dress

I love that is has Pockets!

This will be perfect for hot island and summer days. I love how it is form fitting and very flattering to the figure. This jumper dress is a perfect no brainer for the summer, when you want to look cute and throw something on fast.

Splatter Peplum Top and Pieced Crop Pants in NightShade

I am not positive if I would wear the two of these together. I would probably wear them separate. They are different prints within the same color scheme, so I paired them together to see how it would look. But I think I would wear them separately after seeing them together.

Chambray Capris

I am not really into capris, I really never have been. But I just thought these would be so perfect for my trip. I could wear them with a simple white tank top and still appear pulled together.

Striped Shorts

These shorts are so soft, comfortable and stylish at the same time. Stripes are so spot on for the spring/summer that I could not pass them up. They will be so easy to pull on and wear to the beach.

These are the last few items that I got while I was at Kohls, that I thought I would share with you. I will most likely be bringing them on my trip and wearing them a lot this summer.

Jennifer Lopes Solid Trouser Shorts

I got these because, who doesn't love a pair of short black comfy shorts.

Jennifer Lopez Lace Babydoll Dress

The Color is Vapor Blue

This Dress will be amazing on hot days. It can also be worn over leggings or ankle jeans with a blazer.

LC Lauren Conrad Leggings

Love the Floral Prints!

I think I buy a pair of leggings every time I shop. I think I have a pair in every shade, texture, and print you could imagine. I could not resist theses (even though I already have floral) because they are so soft and they are long!! I have long legs and sometimes its hard to find long leggings. So I get them when I can.

Final Thoughts:

I am very happy and feel very blessed that I got to purchase Derek Lam for Design Nation at Kohl's today. It worked out so perfectly with the way the line was designed and the timing of my trip. I also loved how the line was designed based on a city that is both modern and timeless, two things that I look for in clothes. I can't wait to wear them on my trip, this summer, and maybe even sooner if the weather ever warms up!

Thanks,

Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation

Giorgio Armani

Maestro Fusion Makeup Foundation

The Top of the Bottle is Like a Dropper!

I had read rave reviews on this foundation, but put it off because I had tried one of their foundations before and it did nothing for me. So when the Maestro came out, I got a sample of it first to make sure I was going to like it. I was instantly in love with this foundation. It glided over my face like silk and set to a perfect radiant finish. It is made with an ultra-fine oil-pigment suspension that perfects the complexion, instantly igniting your natural luminosity.

Heres the Skinny on it:

Formula:

A formula that is easy to apply with unified distribution, and covers imperfections. An ultra-fine oil-pigment suspension that perfects the complexion, instantly igniting skin's natural luminosity. A water and powder-free base.

When I use this foundation, I use a oil based makeup primer. You would not want to use a water based primer since oil and water don't mix.

Technology:

An unforgettable and unique texture created by patented Fusion Technology. The Fusion makeup technology delivers the thinnest color film that blends perfectly and corrects skin imperfections without buildup.

It is truly the thinnest foundation I have ever applied in my life, yet has the perfect amount of coverage. It feels so light on the face, almost like you don't have foundation on! It's texture is like no other foundation I have experienced.

Shade 6.5. You can even tell in the Pic, how thin and
Radiant it is!

Application Tips:

Shake the bottle and put three drops in the palm of your hand.
In rapid and fluid movements, spread the foundation out from the center of face to the edges. Make sure to concentrate the application in the center of the face where most imperfections are found.
Blend from the center of forehead to the temples, from the nose, across the cheeks towards the ears, and then from the chin, up along the jaw line.

Results:
Blends into skin on application: 100%*
Easy to wear, you forget that you are wearing make-up: 100%*
Easy to apply, gives rapid and perfect make-up result every time: 98%*
It's a pleasure to use this make up product: 95%*
Natural make-up result without make up feel: 95% *

* Tested during one week by 60 women aged 20-50, with all skin types except extreme ones.

I have not tried applying it with my fingers, I use a standard foundation brush. But I do concentrate on the center of my face and than blend outward. I also have to do my neck since I got the color in a shade darker than normal since summer is coming and I will be fake tanning more. It absolutely leaves the most natural luminous flawless finish.

Final Thoughts:

There is not much to say about this foundation besides the fact that it is truly one a kind and amazing! It also has a SPF 15 in it to make it even better. I am so happy that I bought this foundation. I liked it so much that I got the Maestro Concealer in Shade 4. I plan on posting on the concealer soon and doing a look with both soon and putting it on my Instagram.

Marchesa Parfum Hair Mist

Marchesa

Parfum D'Extase

Hair Mist

I was so excited when a number of Perfumes started to launch hair mists. As much as I love the smell of Perfume, I cannot wear it because one out of three times it will give me a migraine. So instead of taking the risk of getting a migraine, I will wear lovely scented body lotions. Those don't seem to bother me at all. So when I saw the ads for the Hair Mists, my theory was that the hair mist would not be as strong as the perfume and I would be able to wear it and feel like I was wearing perfume. I came to this theory due to the fact that perfume works by your body heat, when your body temperatures rises, it causes the perfume to heat up, thus the fragrance begins to emit from your body. I figured since the smell would be on my hair, and I don't believe my hair changes temperature, the scent will just gently wear off.  It will not be of such an intense and constant smell. Now when I bought this in the store, the saleslady told me that all hair mists do NOT contain alcohol and that is what makes them different than perfume, once again making my theory seem more logical. Why would it need it? But when I look at the number 1 ingredient on the back of the box, it is Alcohol Denat. Which is basically alcohol made to taste bad. An FDA requirement on all cosmetics that have alcohol so it cannot be consumed. Now I was not going to call the Saleslady out of this and embarrass her, as I have had to school them maybe times and I do not enjoy it. So I am left baffled on why the alcohol is in the product at all. Perhaps it has to be in it for the chemical makeup of the product. I personally, due to not wearing perfume, cannot answer this one without doing some research. The only thing that I can think of now is that a true Eau de Perfum has no little to no alcohol in it and is much more expensive. Perhaps the alcohol is added as a sort of filler or binder. I guess if it had been mixed with an oil base instead of an alcohol, perhaps it could make the hair oily??!! I am not going to worry to much about it...It is just perfume.

Now when I made my choice of a Perfumed Hair mist, I only knew of about four brands that had come out with a hair mist. After smelling three out of the four, my favorite was MARCHESA by far.

Here is the Skinny on it:

MARCHESA PARFUM D’EXTASE opens with light florals, giving way to a combination of fresh and woody notes that create complexity and beauty. Iris is the secret to the fragrance's richness, capturing the delicate essence of its flower petals and the dark sensuality of its precious roots. Freesia, young violet leaves, night blooming jasmine, ambrox, and musks complete the sublime composition of this intoxicating elixir.

This perfumed hair mist delicately fragrances hair throughout the day. Now everywhere you go you will leave a romantic, intoxicating silage.

Notes:

Iris Flower, Freesia, Black Current, Young Violet Leaves, Lotus Flower, Night Blooming Jasmine, Bulgarian Rose Water, Orange Blossom, Iris Root, Ambrox, Captive Musks.
Style:

Feminine. Empowered. Intoxicating.

I will try my best to personally describe the smell, but it will be hard, since I stopped wearing perfume about five years ago. The hair mist seems to be more on the musky side than on a floral side. I have never liked a perfume that smelled very floral. Perhaps that is was why I chose this one. But it is not a manly musk scent, it is very feminine. There is a very light hint of floral. As it is described above, you can absolutely smell the fresh and woody notes in it.

Final Thoughts:

I have used this Hair mist three times now and it has not given me a headache. It defiantly does not seem to last quite as long or be as strong of a smell as a perfume. Too me that is a good thing, because that was what I was looking for and drew me to the product. I absolutely hate it when someone walks by me or sits down next to me just covered in perfume or cologne. Whether it is a nice or bad smelling perfume or cologne, I find it to be rude and sickening. I find with perfume, less is more..;)

Thanks,
